Roles and responsibilities of Work Package 6 |
Work Package 6 (WP6) will be responsible for the development of standards for continuous quality control and the introduction of a system of European-wide evaluation for primary prevention programmes, both of which are key factors in performing high quality intervention work. To achieve this goal, three working groups have been established: |
Working group 1 | is focusing on quality standards and evaluation at the macro level (societal level). | Working group 2 | is focusing on quality standards and evaluation at the meso level (health management system level) | Working group 3 | is focusing on quality standards and evaluation at the macro level (societal level). |
The continuous evaluation system will work as a quality management tool which can address specific needs in a managed care environment. The system can be used to meet implementation challenges such as stakeholder involvement, evaluation design, measurement methods, staff training, data quality control, cost efficiency, communication of results, and the use of results in decision making |
Following a review of current evidence on existing strategies in the field, a concept of quality management will then be developed based on the practicability, scientific and practical needs and related costs. In addition the corresponding mandatory procedure and certification bodies will be established. The quality management strategy will be internally and externally reviewed and then tested in a pilot study of acceptance and practicability by a selected number of medical professionals in Europe. |
To reach the proposed objective the following steps will be necessary: |
- Definition of European-wide accepted and applicable indicators for quality control and evaluation
- Dissemination of convenient and cost-efficient instruments for continuous quality control
- Establishment of a central data-base for national and European-wide evaluation of the outcomes
